Explore art in the museum’s permanent collection and temporary exhibitions, and enjoy a variety of hands-on art activities for the entire family.  

All Aboard! Family Night
6-8 p.m., Thursday Dec. 13
Sandy Bell Gallery

Celebrate our new holiday tradition as model trains take over the museum for the last half of December! The opening night includes art activities, banjo music, a cookie and hot cocoa bar, and much more! This family-friendly event starts at 6 p.m., and a train-lighting ceremony starts at 6:30 p.m. Don't miss out! 

Art Adventures

Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. in the Dee Dee and Jon R. Stuart Classroom

Young artists are invited to experience art through books and related art projects for children ages 3 to 5, accompanied by an adult. This program is made possible by generous support from the Kimball Foundation.

All Ages

This space on the lower level in the Ellen and Richard L. Sandor Gallery encourages visitors to explore special exhibitions through hands-on sensory experiences, art activities, and a family reading rug frequently stocked with picture books inspired by the current show. Brightly colored furniture provides a comfortable atmosphere to linger in the gallery while engaging more deeply with art concepts and materials. In this area, visitors can find Family Gallery guides that facilitate child-friendly interactions with special exhibitions.
