Contemporary Chickasaw Art Exhibition Opens June 7 at OU

NORMAN – The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art on the University of Oklahoma Norman campus serves as the first venue for a new traveling exhibition of fresh Native American artwork. Visual Voices: Contemporary Chickasaw Art features more than five dozen works by emerging Chickasaw artists and opens with complimentary, public festivities at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 7.

OU Art Museum Receives Grant From National Endowment for the Arts

NORMAN – The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art at the University of Oklahoma recently received a $23,500 Art Works grant to support the upcoming exhibition, Visual Voices: Contemporary Chickasaw Art. The museum award was one of more than $80 million in grants approved by National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu as part of the NEA’s second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2018.

OU Art Museum Promises a Helvetica of a Good Time at I Heart Design Feb. 8

NORMAN – Everyone except font Comic Sans is welcome to celebrate clean lines and classic logos during I Heart Design at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art. The complimentary event geared toward college students is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8.

Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art Exhibition Explores Three Generations of Modern Pueblo Painters, Opens Jan. 26

NORMAN, OKLA. – A first-of-its-kind exhibition honoring three generations of Pueblo artists opens this month at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art at the University of Oklahoma. Generations in Modern Pueblo Painting: The Art of Tonita Peña and Joe Herrera spans 65 years and reveals how a mother and son broke tradition and influenced generations of modern painters.
