Gaylord wins big in two professional media competitions

Gaylord’s creative media production students took home several prestigious awards in The Telly Awards and The Communicator Awards competitions. Both competitions award entries based on exceptional visual work and storytelling abilities.

Gaylord Hall Productions, Gaylord College’s in-house production team, took home several gold, silver and bronze Telly Awards, as well as three Communicator Awards.

Gaylord alumus honored with bridge named after him in Tennessee

Gaylord alum Dean Stone was honored with a bridge named after him in the Knoxville, TN, area according to a local news station WBIR story.

The bridge was dedicated to Stone posthumously, honoring the work he did serving as a photographer and editor for The Daily Times newspaper. Stone received his journalism degree from Gaylord College in 1949 and published several books of his own photography and six books about Blount County, where the Foothills Parkway Bridge is located. He passed away in 2016 at the age of 92.

Gaylord alumna honored as one of 2019’s Women on the Move

Jenny Creech was honored at the Texas Executive’s 34th annual Women on the Move luncheon in Houston, TX, on October 28, 2019.

Creech, a former journalism major and current sports columnist for the Houston Chronicle, has had an incredible career in sports journalism. In addition to her role and the Houston Chronicle, Creech was active with the Association for Women in Sports Media, serving as the organization’s president from 2016-2018.

Creech has won several prestigious awards for her reporting, including being honored as one of the top 10 in Investigative Writing by APSE in 2017 for her work uncovering the Baylor University sexual assault scandal.

Congratulations, Jenny! Gaylord is so proud of you and all of the incredible work you do. This award is well-deserved!
