Welcome to Gaylord College!

Thank you for your interest in the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Mass Communication encompasses five majors: Advertising, Broadcast & Electronic Media (behind the camera), Journalism (print, multi-media and in front of the camera), Professional Writing and Public Relations.

Gaylord College offers our students not only state of the art facilities and equipment but also experienced faculty/staff that bridge academics with current industry trends. This prepares our students not only through cirriuclum but also provides "real world" knowledge needed in their career.

Another unique opportunity our college provides our students is applying their academics through numerous Practicums. A Practicum is a one credit hour course where students "practice" their skills through application. We offer practiucms at the Oklahoma Daily newspaper, The Wire radio station, OU Nightly broadcast and the Lindsey & Asp Advertising and Public Relations Agency; to name a few.

One of the best decisions you can make as a student is to GET INVOLVED! Our college has over a dozen national/professional recognized student Clubs & Organizations! The benefits of getting involved in a club/organization are: scholarship/award opportunities, professional outreach and staying in touch with industry trends. All of these will enhance your resume and possibly lead you to internship/career opportunities! To see a list of our Clubs & Organizations click here.
