Welcome to Gaylord College

With one of the oldest accredited programs in the United States, the University of Oklahoma has been teaching Journalism since 1913. Funded with a $22 million endowment from the Gaylord Family, OU has a full service college of journalism and mass communications offering bachelor's degrees in journalism, advertising, public relations, professional writing and broadcast and electronic media. The college also offers master's degrees and doctoral graduate study.

The Gaylord College has 33 full-time faculty members, most of whom have Ph.D.s and significant professional experience. Many have come directly from media or strategic communication organizations. Gaylord Hall, a 61,000-square-foot building opened in 2004, is one of the most modern and and best equipped facilities in the United States. The additional 44,000-square-foot Phase II expansion will open in 2009. The Gaylord College is the fastest growing college at OU and the fourth-largest degree-granting academic unit on the Norman Campus.
