The Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma seeks to fill three tenure-track faculty positions to start Fall 2010. Applications for the search will be reviewed beginning October 15, 2009, and will be accepted until all positions are filled.
The Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication was founded in2000, after a generous gift from the family of Edward L. Gaylord, owner of the Oklahoma Publishing Company. The Gaylord College is becoming one of the leading centers of mass communication teaching and scholarship in the United States. A newly revised journalism curriculum offersstrong training in the skills and concepts of multimedia journalism,presentation and content management.
The size of the faculty is expanding, and the College has a state-of-the-art Gaylord Hall completed in 2004 and expanded in 2009. New faculty will take an active part in this growth through superior teaching, innovative curriculum development, and notable research or creative activity. The College offers the BA, MA, and Ph.D. in journalism, advertising and public relations, and media arts and a master’s (MPW) degree in professional writing.

The Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor in multimedia journalism.
The College seeks an experienced multimedia journalist who can teach courses in multimedia information gathering, multimedia editing, web design and content management. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to develop software applications for mobile media and have a strong visual communication background. Interest in executing research and contributing to the college’s graduate programs is a plus.
A bachelor's degree and significant professional experience are required; master's or Ph.D. preferred.

Strategic Communication
The Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant or associate professor in advertising and public relations.
The College seeks a person who is experienced in advertising and/or public relations and can teach in both, but may have research/creative/professional interest in one or the other. The ideal candidate will also have the background and interest to teach undergraduate classes in new media, creativity, and/or multimedia/interactive.
A master's degree is required.Preference will be given to a Ph.D. or someone with major national or international professional experience.
Visual Media
The University of Oklahoma is seeking to fill a tenure-track position for fall 2010 in visual media production at the assistant professor level.
Requirements include a master’s degree and skill in electronic media production. A Ph.D. or an equivalent terminal degree(e.g., MFA) and teaching experience preferred. The College also seeks individuals with extensive production experience and professional recognition on a national or international level. Experience in the interaction between video, audio, the web and mobile media would be aplus.
We are especially interested in persons who have experience in single camera digital production and who have supervised student productions. Successful applicants may teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in video and audio production and post-production, documentary, narrative and conceptual media courses.
