Professional Writing Course Requirements
In addition to the University-Wide General Education requirements, Professional Writing (PW) majors must complete a minimum of 30 (maximum of 40) hours in journalism and mass communication.
Undergraduate Degree
Specific requirements include:
JMC 1013 Intro. to Mass Communication
JMC 2033 Writing for Mass Media*
JMC 3504 Introduction to Professional Writing
JMC 3514 Writing the Short Story
JMC 4514 Writing the Novel
JMC 4573 Theories of Prof. Writing (Capstone)
JMC 4803 History of Journalism
JMC 4813 Mass Communication Law
Three hours of electives
*The LST/AIT must be passed in order to enroll in JMC 2033. If transferring 2033 in from another institution the LST/AIT must be passed to complete Gaylord College admission.
