Matthew Stratton, senior vice president of marketing for Tinker Federal Credit Union, was chosen as 2009 Professional of the Year by the National Association of Federal Credit Unions. Stratton was honored at NAFCU's 42nd annual conference in National Harbor, Md., in July.

Under Stratton's leadership last year, TFCU launched a consumer financial literacy initiative that went from start-up to more than 6,000participants in eight months. It launched a young adult outreach program anchored by the Web site BuckTheNorm.com that attracted nationwide attention. As TFCU's brand has solidified in the past year,it was ranked eighth nationally in the 2008 Bancography Brand Value Index in the large credit union category. This ranking calculates the value of an institution's brand based on reputation, service quality,image and market awareness.

A 1980 [professional writing] graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Stratton came to TFCU with 10 years of corporate communication experience. Before joining TFCU, he worked for the Oklahoma Press Association, St. Anthony Hospital and South Community Hospital. He is a long-time Norman resident.
