Journalism and mass communication industries thrive on helping organizations, communities and individuals communicate with each other. This communication is central to the smooth functioning of our societies. Technology provides communication tools that assist journalists and strategic communicators deliver the important messages throughout our communities. The Gaylord College strives to be as technologically advanced as possible and encourages students to utilize the most sophisticated technology available.
Inside Gaylord Hall, the College provides students with a large multimedia laboratory, three advanced computer-assisted teaching spaces, 10 video-editing bays, two broadcast training facilities and three audio training suites. Gaylord Hall is also an active wireless building, offering students the ability to connect to the OU computer network from any classroom or public area. Many students choose to work in the beautiful Edith Kinney Gaylord Library located on the second floor of the building or in the community spaces on the first floor.
Gaylord Hall is capable of handling any computer platform. However, the faculty of the college have examined the curriculum and workload of students attending the college and now encourage students who are considering purchasing a laptop computer to use during their college studies to select an Apple computer. The University of Oklahoma has arranged for special discounts from Apple on both hardware and software. For more information go to the IT Store.
