Dr. Rosengard spent nearly a decade in commercial network affiliated television newsrooms as a reporter, anchor and producer from Mississippi to Massachusetts. Included in his reporting work was an assignment as Washington, D.C. correspondent for WAND-TV/Decatur, IL. The last of his television news producing work was done at WCVB-TV/Boston. He has returned to on-air general assignment reporting positions twice in the last several years, once in Plattsburgh, NY, and once in Duluth, MN, the latter as a RTNDF Excellence in Education fellowship winner.
Dr. Rosengard began teaching as an adjunct instructor before accepting a position as a professor and news director at Lyndon State College (VT) where he helped the student newscast (LSC-TV/Newscenter 2) win top national honors from the Society of Professional Journalists (1997). He also won an individual distinguished service ward from the AP/Vermont Broadcasters Association. While earning the Ph.D. at UNC/CH, Rosengard was part of the inaugural management team of that student newscast (Carolina Week), which earned top national honors from the Broadcast Education Association (2002). Here at Gaylord/OU he is teaching broadcast courses and serving in a supervisory role of the live, nightly student newscast, OU Nightly.
Dr. Rosengard's research is in the area of practices and policies of local television news, network news and other programming. His work has been published in academic scholarly journals, trade publications and featured in journalism textbooks.
