Background

As Assistant Professor in the Gaylord College Dr Steyn teaches Advertising Research and Media Management. Dr Steyn has (over the last 5 years) been involved with a number of media, communications and research projects for clients such as local and provincial business, government departments, universities and investment corporations in South Africa and elsewhere. Her involvement in research projects includes qualitative and quantitative surveys for national and international organizations (e.g. the South African National Editors’ Forum [SANEF] 2002 and 2004 South African National Journalism Skills Audits and the international news coverage of the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona). Dr Steyn has read papers at almost 30 national and international communication, media and management conferences, has contributed chapters for national and international textbooks, and has published various articles in national and international peer reviewed journals.
