Background

Professional experience includes strategic communication coordination and management in university relations, sports promotion, healthcare, real estate, and mortgage services. Research interests include risk and crisis communication, public relations/advertising, and organizational communication.

Dr. Veil formerly served as a research fellow investigating agrosecurity concerns for the United States Department of Agriculture and the National Center for Food Protection and Defense and is currently the core director for education and outreach with The Center for Risk and Crisis Management at the University of Oklahoma. Her work has been published in the Journal of Business Ethics, Public Relations Review, Communication Research Reports, Public Relations Quarterly, Speaker and Gavel, and the book Terrorism: Communication and Rhetorical Perspectives. She has also presented her research at regional, national, and international communication conferences.
