A completely redesigned Broadcasting and Electronic Media program offers students the chance for a hands-on digital media education in one of the most state-of-the-art facilities in the nation. Students can select their own focus of study in one or more tracks including Electronic Filmmaking, Documentary Production, Audio Production, Corporate & Commercial Production, Video Production, Interactive Multimedia, and Creative Media Writing. Classes are supported with a range of hands-on opportunities. Students can produce television shows in one of Gaylord’s four studios, work at two radio stations or go on location to create their own stories. Involvement is encouraged in the freshman year.
Broadcasting & Electronic Media professionals work both in front of the camera as anchors and reporters and behind the camera as technicians, editors, directors and producers. Broadcasting & Electronic Media professionals may work for radio or television stations, major broadcast networks or video production houses.
As a Broadcasting & Electronic Media student you will have the opportunity to work for the student-produced television station, TV4OU producing shows such as the OU Nightly newscast, sports talk shows, and news magazine shows. Broadcast students will leave the program with a reel they can proudly show employers.
