Gaylord College graduate students, Prisca Ngondo and Anna Klyueva, presented papers at the recent International Public Relations Research Conference in Miami, March 6-9. Public relations professors, Katerina Tsetsura and Meta Carstarphen, also presented their research.
Ngondo's paper focused on how women understand and evaluate messages about the human papillomavirus (HPV). Klyueva's paper is an exploratory study of media practices in the Urals region of Russia. The students were encouraged to submit their papers as part of their Advanced Public Relations Theory class taught by Dr. Tsetsura last fall. Both student papers cover research in progress for their master's theses.
Tsetsura's presented a paper as part of ongoing research she is conducting on media transparency and the effects of professionalism on public relations and journalism practices in terms of media bribery worldwide. Carstarphen presented a paper about imagining the victim and the rhetoric of how grief is portrayed in the media.
