OU Minority Students Receive Recognition

AAF Most Promising Minority Students

Five Gaylord College students were honored recently in New York City by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) as part of their Most Promising Minority Students Program. Advertising majors Tyler Allen, Loan Vu and Halley Ralls, and PR majors Regina Greuel and Angela Tran spent the week interviewing with recruiters, visiting advertising agencies and media outlets.  During the event, Loan Vu was also named to the AAF Hall of Student Achievement, one of the first four students to be inducted; with the honor came a $2,500 scholarship.

NABJ Oklahoma Salute to Excellence Program

Three Gaylord College students swept the top three awards at the NABJ Oklahoma Salute to Excellence program in October. The award program was hosted by the Oklahoma and Tulsa chapters of the National Association of Black Journalists. Breanca Thomas, Kayle Barnes and Victoria Williams were the only OU students to enter the program and their efforts were rewarded with the top three honors of the night. Read more about their stories.
