OU Nightly Soundboard“OU Nightly,” the 30-minute daily newscast produced by students at the University of Oklahoma Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication, can now be seen Monday through Friday on the Cox Channel in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas.

“We are thrilled to add this award winning program to our daily lineup,” said Christine Martin, Cox spokeswoman. “It will give Cox customers yet another information resource, along with a daily glimpse of happenings at OU.”

“OU Nightly” will air live each weekday at 4:30 p.m. on Cox Channel 7 in Oklahoma City and Channel 3 in Tulsa. The show will also continue to air on Norman's Cox Channel 4.

The program, which is produced, written, reported and anchored by OU journalism students, was recently named the best student newscast for the second year in a row by the Oklahoma Chapter of the Broadcast Education Association. Many OU broadcast journalism students have gone on to successful careers in television after first learning their craft producing the program.

“Going live in Norman is both challenging and rewarding for our student-journalists.  Now reaching out beyond our immediate neighborhoods will give them more exposure and of course, more pressure.  Not always a bad thing” said Dr. Dana Rosengard, faculty adviser and McMahon Centennial Professor at the Gaylord College.

“OU Nightly” had previously aired only on the Cox Channel in Norman.

“We have been happy to provide the broadcast outlet for this student-produced program for some time in the Norman area, but now it can be seen statewide,” Martin said.
