Gaylord Ambassador Program Overview


The Gaylord Ambassadors program is a student organization designed to assist the Gaylord College in recruiting, outreach, and external efforts of the college.


JMC students who are sophomores, juniors or seniors in the college will be selected to serve as ambassadors. Selection will be based on academic achievement, communication skills, enthusiasm and desire to serve. Once selected, these ambassadors will attend a training and orientation process to learn/enhance a number of skills, including techniques for developing relationships with visitors and teamwork.


Ambassadors will assist the college with the following activities:

•    Offer tours of Gaylord Hall, including discussing programs and student activities

•    Aid the college in recruiting prospective students

•    Escort VIP visitors that come to the OU campus

•    Represent the college at career/job fairs

•    Assist with college events/activities


Ambassadors receive the following benefits:

•    Leadership training

•    Build relationships with college faculty and staff

•    Meet and interact with VIP media figures, alumni, and scholars visiting OU

•    Practice of public relations and public speaking skills

•    One credit hour of independent study

•    Shirts and name badges designating them as Gaylord Ambassadors

•    Photographs displayed in Gaylord Hall during service year and recognition at college events
