Arab American Institute Foundation – Al Muammar Scholarship

Up to four scholarship grants, valued at $5,000 each, will be awarded to eligible Arab American college students who are majoring in journalism, as well as college seniors who have been accepted to a graduate journalism school. Awardees will be selected by a panel of judges drawn from the print and broadcast media in the United States. The scholarships will be for the 2007-2008 academic year with funds paid directly to the schools designated by the awardees. Go to the AAI Foundation Scholarship page for more info.


Asian American Journalist Association Scholarship

Each year, AAJA offers scholarships to outstanding high school seniors and undergraduate and graduate students. Since its inception, AAJA has awarded more than $1 Million in scholarships and internships to more than 500 students pursuing a career in journalism. Most scholarships begin at $2,000. Association for Women in Communications (Oklahoma City Chapter)

The Oklahoma City Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications offers between five and 10 scholarships to women pursuing communications-related degrees at Oklahoma colleges or universities. The scholarships range from $500 to $2,500. Visit OKC Women in Communications Web site for more information.


Betty Baum and Norman Hirschfield Award competition

The award was endowed by the son and daughter of Betty Baum and Norman Hirschfield, Alan Hirschfield and E.J. Hirschfield, of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It is designed for undergraduates and graduate students who are single mothers on the Norman campus.


Applicants must have completed 15 hours of study and have a 3.0 grade-point average. Criteria and forms are available at OU Women's Studies.


Broadcast Education Association (BEA) National Scholarships in Broadcasting

More than $30,000 in scholarship monies available through this award program. All scholarships are awarded to juniors, seniors and graduate students. Applications for BEA's National Scholarships in Broadcasting are now available at the BEA Web site. You must submit transcripts, a written statement of goals and three letters of reference along with other data.


Ruby N. Courtney Writer's Scholarship

Financial Aid to OU and OSU students. The Ruby N. Courtney Writer's Scholarship offers financial assistance to students interested in writing and/or literature at the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University. Recipients of this scholarship must be Oklahoma residents, enrolled full-time, be in good standing and have completed 30 credit hours. They will receive a $500 cash award. The Fund for American Studies Scholarship

David Hoods Memorial Scholarship

Students interested in graphic design and web writing can apply for this scholarship.

Award Amount: $250 to $5,000

Description

The David Hoods Memorial Scholarship is open to juniors, seniors and graduate students who demonstrate a strong interest in working with electronic documents as a career. This includes graphic communications, computer science, telecommunications or related fields. You must demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities to be eligible for this award. Preference will be given to students interested in marketing and public relations.

The Oklahoma City Gridiron Foundation

The Oklahoma City Gridiron Foundation grants scholarships from $500 to $2500 to as many as ten journalism students every year. Go to the Gridiron Web site for more information.


The Oklahoma Newspaper Foundation

The Oklahoma Newspaper Foundation has established a scholarship program that will award three $1,500 scholarships to Oklahoma journalism students each year. Complete the application form at the Oklahoma Press Web site.


The Outdoor Writer's Association

The Outdoor Writer’s Association is offering scholarships to journalism students; they distributed more than $20,000 last year. Bodie McDowell Scholarship awards are given to students of outdoor communications fields including print, film, art or broadcasting. Undergraduates entering junior or senior years or grad students are eligible. Applications are available at the Outdoor Writer's Association Web site.


PRSA Emerging Leader Scholarship

The PRSA Emerging Leader Scholarship is an excellent opportunity for sophomore and junior PRSSA members to supplement their studies in PR and for senior PRSSA members to get a head start in their PR careers. For more information, go to the PRSA-OKC Web site.
