Detox Local

"Detox Local provides an extensive directory of all available drug and alcohol detox centers that are located near you. Given the fact that different substances interact in individuals in different ways, means that there must be different detox centers that serve the specific needs of those addicted peoples. And while yes many detox centers do offer services that can help with the withdrawal process from numerous drugs or alcohol, it is important to ensure that the detox center you will be attending has the knowledge to help you overcome your particular addiction. For instance if you are addicted to pain killers, then you want to make sure that the detox centers that you are researching have extensive experience with helping individuals overcome their pain killer addiction. The same can be said for alcohol, or for any other drug for that matter."

Cornell University LGBTQ Career Resources

"As a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) student preparing for a job or internship search, you will want to think through these additional career planning challenges related to your sexual orientation. For the most part, college life has been a supportive environment, with an LGBT resource center, welcoming staff across campus, active student groups, and university-backed non-discrimination and benefits policies. The workplace can be quite different, in terms of the openness of and support for LGBT employees. Industries and geographic regions may vary widely in their policies and support, and you will want to research your options carefully to meet your individual needs and goals. The following collection of resources is designed to offer a starting point in considering issues faced by LGBT people in the job or internship search and the culture of the workplace. There are no right or wrong answers or rules, only what is right for you. Feel free to address questions on coming out at work and during the job search to career services advisors."

Over 25 years later, that small group has grown into the leading national education organization focused on ensuring safe and affirming schools for LGBTQ students.

We face a pervasive problem with a set of new challenges. 8 out of 10 LGBT students are still harassed at school each year because of who they are.

We are working to change that.

At GLSEN, we want every student, in every school, to be valued and treated with respect, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. We believe that all students deserve a safe and affirming school environment where they can learn and grow.
