President's Associates

BorenwithdeKlerkF.W. de Klerk, president of South Africa from 1989 to 1994 and Nobel Peace Prize winner, with President David L. Boren, right

The President’s Associates Program is the single most successful private support program in the history of the University. President’s Associates provide unrestricted funding that allows President Boren to deal with critical issues and pursue initiatives that enrich OU’s academic mission. Because donors can designate half of their gift to a favorite college or program, Associates funds provide the same kind of opportunities to OU deans and program directors.

Since its beginning in 1979, the Associates Program has been integral to OU’s success in areas ranging from the National Merit Scholars Program to the Center for Analysis and Prediction of Storms.

Associates represent a major force in funding the Presidential Professorship Program, sponsoring outstanding professors on both the Norman and Health Sciences Center campuses through the program’s Second Century Endowment, created through gifts at the Life and Endowed Associate levels.

President's Associates also attend Presidential events and dinners; receive guest parking permits for the Norman campus; and benefit in numerous other ways. Six participation levels are available, and a volunteer Council also helps direct Associates activities.
