Scholarships
The opportunity to attend OU has changed thousands of lives since the University was founded. Increasing scholarship
President Boren announces the first goal has been reached in the Campaign for Scholarships.
Increasing scholarship support is important because scholarships change lives of deserving young people for generations to come.
Over the past 20 years, state support as a percentage of the University budget has fallen from 40 percent of the total budget to only 20 percent, so that university costs to the student has similarly increased.
Launched in the spring of 2005 to assist thousands of OU students who need help with necessary tuition increases, the Campaign for Scholarships has enabled OU to double the number of scholarships given to its students.
OU awarded privately funded scholarships to more than 8,600 students in 2007, up from 4,630 in 2003.
Many scholarship programs are available for donors interested in helping these deserving students through scholarships.

Graduate Fellowships
High-caliber graduate programs and a deep, talented pool of graduate students enhance our overall educational environment. Graduate students impact undergraduate education through meaningful mentoring and by supporting our faculty in both laboratories and classrooms. While the quality of graduate programs is certainly a key factor in recruiting top graduate students, it is the availability of competitive stipends that, to a large degree, determines the graduate program’s success.
Privately funded graduate fellowships provide OU with resources to recruit and retain the type of outstanding graduate students who strengthen our teaching and research activities. Every OU college could be significantly strengthened by these fellowships, which can be funded with annual gifts of at least $5,000 or endowment gifts of at least $100,000.
