Oh the Opportunities!

march 28, 2009

The past few weeks have presented me with some great opportunities and prospective adventures. The campaigns for next year’s campus leadership are coming to a close, so things have been heating up. The President and Vice President candidates, Katie Fox and Dewey Bartlett are uncontested and therefore automatically the winners. The only major contested race going now is the campaign for CAC (Campus Activities Council) Chair. Kely Van Eaton and Tyler Nunley, the two candidates, have made this a very exciting and close race.

CLARKE STROUD

I’m not sure if I have mentioned Clarke Stroud before in length. I’m sure his name has come across a few times, but let me just tell you a little more about this gentleman. He is the VP of Student Affairs for the University of Oklahoma, and he is the Dean of Students. But this man is no ordinary ranking staff member. He is a true jewel to the University.  Continue reading March 22...

SPRING BREAK

One misconception that a lot of parents, and students, have about Spring Break is that when the kids don’t come home, it’s because they go partying somewhere tropical. I didn’t! And I had one heck of a great time. Sure, some people go with friends to the beach and do that whole routine, but it’s definitely not the majority. As students, it is important to spend the glorious free time we get wisely. Continue reading March 13...

THE DORMS

Let me talk about the dorms for a bit. I haven’t said a whole lot about dorm life, but it’s actually pretty great. The day I moved in, I saw my friend Brad Gray from high school walk by. At first, I thought nothing of it; we were good friends and it didn’t seem odd to see him. Then I realized that in this situation, it WAS abnormal to see him. The guy had just moved in down the hall! Continue reading March 8...

March 2, 2009

Last night I pulled off a fist pound with the Governor of Oklahoma, Brad Henry. It was great, and I think I can proudly say I am one of only a few individuals to ever attempt or accomplish that. The day before I fed a squirrel by hand. And this morning I officially became a candidate for Student Congress. It’s been a great week for me. Continue reading March 2...

February 23, 2009

So sorry for my lapse in blogs, and I have so much to tell you! Since I lasted posted I have seen and done so many great things. I have triumphed and faced defeat with our OU football team, I have gone back to my hometown of Bartlesville, Oklahoma to spend much needed time with my family (only after an intense week of finals!) I have spent snow days indoors while all the students from places where snow is rare played out in the freezing cold. Continue reading February 23...

October 20, 2008

So so so much has happened since my first entry! I went through Rush and pledged a fraternity, had exams, made friends, ate with our president, and much, much more! Probably one of the greatest things that happened to me is the discovery of the pepperoni stromboli in the Union food court. The stuff is delicious. And moreover one can get it and a drink for a meal exchange! Continue reading October 20...

September 8, 2008

The name is Forrest Bennett, and I’m a freshman here at the University of Oklahoma. And it is fantastic. I mean it’s overwhelming and scary and mysterious and all that good stuff, and we’ll go over that as the weeks come and go. I have for you a few interesting tid bits from my personal experience thus far, so get excited! Oh, I guess first I should tell you a little about myself… Continue reading September 8...
