Lori first discovered a passion for assisting students in reaching their goals and celebrating their accomplishments during her undergraduate years working as a Resident Adviser. The desire to work in student services continued to develop throughout her undergraduate experience and led Lori to pursue a graduate degree in Adult and Higher Education, specializing in Student Personnel Services. Before joining the Graduation Office in October 2006, Lori worked as a graduate assistant in the Center for Leadership Development and in various other areas across campus through internships and practicum experiences.

Lori completed dual Master's degrees in Education and Human Relations in May 2007.

Lori married her college sweetheart, Zac Stevens, in June 2003. The couple met at OU as undergraduates during a pick-up snow football game. Zac works in Student Life at the University of Oklahoma.
