Becoming a member

The charter for the student chapter of HFES states that "Members are those students or faculty at the University of Oklahoma who show an interest in the field of human factors."

A student or faculty member may join the student chapter without becoming a member of the national society. However, chapter officers are required to become members of the national society before taking office. Student memberships to the national society can be registered online (click here). Benefits of becoming a member of the national society can be viewed here.

Dues

There are no dues associated with chapter membership. However, members are expected to participate in fundraising activities as they occur. Typically, this will require 2-4 hours a semester.

Attendance

Members are encouraged to attend at least one of the two general meetings each semester. These are held at various times and locations and will be announced through email and posted on the website. Meetings are designed to encourage interest in Human Factors and Ergonomics while providing interesting and fun diversions for the members. See the "Activities" page for more details about the types of meetings.
