Airfare: Each student must make his/her own travel arrangements. The price for air travel for the 2009 program averaged $1000, depending on several factors, such as when the ticket was booked, where the flight originated and student discounts with an International Student Identity Card (see http://www.isecard.com/isecard/aboutb.html for information). Trains and buses travel regularly from London airports to Oxford.
Tuition: The tuition depends on the current rate for a 3-hour, 3000-level course plus fees. Currently, resident tuition and fees are $241.00 per credit hour; non-resident tuition and fees are $573.70 per credit hour. Please remember that the rates for tuition and fees are subject to change. See http://bursar.ou.edu/tuition_fees.cfm for current rates.
Room and board: All rooms are private at Brasenose. The difference between a standard and en-suite room is a shared bathroom for the standard and a private bath for the en-suite.
The total cost for a standard room (in British pounds) is ?1665, for an en-suite room (in British pounds), ?1991. The room and board fee (in U.S. dollars) will be applied to the student’s bursar’s bill. Fees for Brasenose room and board are not refundable once the program begins in June.
Converting the room and board fee into dollars depends on the exchange rate, which varies daily and can fluctuate widely throughout the year. The room and board fee is $2800 for the standard room and $3300 for the en-suite, but the final amount depends on the exchange rate in June 2010. The Honors College does not make a profit on this program but turns over the amount students pay for room and board directly to Brasenose College.
June Housing: Students may live in University of Oklahoma housing for the June session. See http://housing.ou.edu/content/view/572/177/l for information and please remember that rates may change.
Students also may wish to obtain travel insurance to supplement their health insurance. Rates vary according to age and coverage. One possible source is Access America, www.accessamerica.com. Students must be covered by health insurance to participate in the program.
Additional costs: Students in the 3-hour credit courses will pay their own transportation for class trips as they are taken, i.e., to London to visit the British Museum or Stonehenge. Please allow for these extra costs.
If a student is receiving financial aid, or is a National Merit or Regents Scholar, s/he must notify in advance the appropriate office (Financial Aid or the National Scholars office).
