Camp Crimson Attendees Enjoy First Year Diversity Experience

NPR Lifekit

Incoming students participated in diversity training at Camp Crimson – all part of a plan to prepare them for real-world interactions. During their three-hour First Year Diversity Experience, students learn how to build community through connections.  Facilitators used quizzes, games and role-playing to help incoming students feel more knowledgeable and prepared to meet new people at OU.

Additionally, they walked away with baseline skills to make the most of their college educational experience. With questions addressing travel, personality traits and learning styles, students were able to identify traits in themselves that represented their own diversity.

The First Year Diversity Experience is required for all OU students. With more than 30 facilitators, training is offered throughout the fall semester to groups of up to 50 people per session.

The Office of University Community was renamed the Office of Diversity and Inclusion as part of the first phase of the University’s diversity and inclusion plan. You can now find them at ou.edu/diversityandinclusion.
