Suzette Grillot, Current Research

My research interests focus generally on issues of international security. Specifically I am interested in foreign and security policy making and the behavior of states in the international arena. I am currently looking very closely at the serious problem of small arms and light weapons proliferation in Central and Eastern Europe in an attempt to shed some theoretical and practical insight. My book manuscript, Small But Deadly: The Spread and Control of Light Weapons in Central and Eastern Europe, highlights the various control measures 14 countries in Central and Eastern Europe have developed and implemented to check the spread of small arms. Other research projects in which I am engaged focus on the transnational NGO network that has emerged to combat the problem of small arms proliferation and the role of Central and East European identity in NATO expansion and EU enlargement.
