Andrea DenHoed, Rhodes Scholar
We sat down and visited with Andrea DenHoed, (’08, Aurora, CO) an International and Area Studies major and the University of Oklahoma’s 27th Rhodes Scholar. Out of the thousands who apply, only Thirty-two American men and women are chosen as Rhodes Scholars, the oldest and best known award for international study. Rhodes Scholarships provide all expenses for two or three years of study at the University of Oxford in England. The first class of American Rhodes Scholars entered Oxford in 1904. Andrea will enter Oxford in October 2008.
Andrea dreamed about winning a Rhodes Scholarship as a little girl. Through hard work, dedication, and the help of her family, especially her mother, she will study English language and literature at Oxford next fall.
Andrea will be in contact with us over the next few semesters from Oxford. We will post pictures and talk to about her classes and the different social and cultural environment.
