  1. Reports

      Presidential, Connie Smith.

1.     Connie shared the information presented by Nick Hathaway at the Staff Senate meeting regarding the cell phone use policy. Basically OU is bound by state law, which states that employees cannot be loaned money (university paying for cell phone usage up front and the employee reimbursing for the use at a later date) and that state property cannot be utilized for personal purposes. At this point, it is recommended that each employee adhere to departmental cell phone policy. Email comments about the university-wide cell phone policy to Connie, Jackie Farley or Nick.

2.     A potential award for recognizing OU staff for work in the community has been suggested to Staff Senate. Please send ideas or suggestions related to this idea to Jackie or Barbara in the Staff Senate Office.

Treasurers Report, Sophia Morren. The Foundation account balance is $360.27 with no disbursements since July 2002. An OU Federal Credit Union account has been established for the purpose of collecting funds and paying for the meeting lunches.

Art Show Committee Report, Lenore Arlee. Harvey Mitchell will be providing entertainment at the opening reception. If anyone knows of a source for pedestals, please let the committee know. The next committee meeting is Thursday, April 10 and is open to anyone interested in the art show.

5.     Old Business

Update on IT Policy Committee, Dan Hough. The Security & Acceptable Use policies reviewed by staff and faculty are now awaiting presidential signature. The committees most recent project has been the development of an Email policy. The committee examined policies from OSU, OUHSC and others when developing the proposed policy, which addresses mass emails, spam rules for disabling accounts and other issues. The policy contains a privacy statement and reminds users of the Open Records Act.
