When your academic program changes because you have been admitted to an OU degree program, you MUST update your I-20 to show your new program information. You are required under US immigration law to have an updated I-20 at all times.
After you have received an admissions letter to the OU degree program, you must complete and submit an I-20 request form to the OU ISS office. You must submit the form with the required documentation before we can process your new degree-seeking I-20.
If you were conditionally admitted to your degree program, you must begin your program in the next available semester start date, including summer semester. The OU office of Admissions strongly discourages CESL students from going home for the summer prior to beginning a degree program. They do not want you to lose the English proficiency you gained in CESL.
You do not need to obtaina new visa at a US consulate to move into your degree program. You may remain in the US and continue in your new program as long as you are constantly maintaining your F-1 immigration status.
If you have questions about moving up from CESL to an OU degree program, email the ISS office or come to our office. You may also email the OU office of Admissions.
