CINTAX access is now availabel to OU students! All students should have received an email from our office with detailed information about accessing CINTAX. If you have NOT received this email, let us know. OU Payroll services has processed all Forms W-2 and 1042S for all international students. International students MUST have at least the W-2, and in many cases, the 1042S, to complete their 2008 tax return forms. If you have not yet received your forms, you may wish to contact OU Payroll Services to confirm your mailing address. If your address is out of date, the forms will be returned to OU Payroll Services, and you will need to pick the forms up from that office on campus.
Who should get Form 1042-S?
• All employees who claimed a tax treaty exemption
• All nonresident alien students/scholars who received a non-service scholarship/fellowship in excess of tuition/required fees/books and supplies – regardless of whether or not tax was withheld
• All other nonresident alien payees (generally paid through AP or via wire transfer) – regardless of whether or not tax was withheld.
We want you to file your taxes early – but not TOO early. You must wait for ALL income forms before accessing CINTAX. You will be able to use CINTAX free of charge. In the 2007 tax year, 178 international students who filed using CINTAX claimed refunds in excess of $77,137 total. The average tax return amount to students was $433.36 per student. We urge you to file your taxes to receive your tax refunds.
International students who would like to request an invitation letter in support of a US visitor’s visa application in order for a friend or family member to attend graduation ceremonies should request this letter from the OU Graduation Office. Visit the Graduation Office website here for additional information and instructions. You may also email the Graduation Office or reach them by phone at (405) 325-3467.
