Fall 2009 CPT/OPT workshop schedule
Workshop attendance is MANDATORY in order to apply for CPT or OPT benefits.
Our Fall 2009 Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) Workshop schedule is as follows:

CPT (Curricular Practical Training) and OPT (Optional Practical Training)
Employment Authorization Workshops (F-1 students ONLY)
These workshops are for F-1 students who are interested in applying for Curricular Practical Training or Optional Practical Training.
- Eligible F-1 students may apply for post-completion OPT as a Fall 2009 graduate starting September 19 through February 5, 2010.
- Eligible F-1 students may apply for post-completion OPT as a Spring 2010 graduate starting February 16 through July 8, 2010
- Eligible F-1 students may now apply for CPT for Spring 2010. Application deadline is January 22, 2010.
- Eligible F-1 students may apply for CPT for Summer 2010 starting April 5 through June 11, 2010.
Learn basic information, eligibility for CPT and OPT, and how to apply. OU ISS international student advisers will answer questions after the presentation. Space in these workshops is limited due to classroom size. You must reserve your space by sending email to OU ISS, placing “workshop reservation” in the subject line of your email, specifying EXACTLY which workshop you wish to attend. Include your full name and OU ID in the email. We look forward to seeing you in a workshop soon!
The USCIS is currently taking 100 days to process OPT applications, and the process cannot be expedited. Do not promise an employment start date to a US employer that you cannot guarantee.
Updates to Post-Completion Optional Practical Training, SEVP Policy Guidance: 0801-01, effective April 25, 2008
The current 12-month limit on OPT may be extended by 17 months, for a total of 29 months for certain students who have completed STEM degrees in the US ONLY.
J-1 to F-1 Workshops
For current exchange students who wish to become degree-seeking students (J-1 exchange students ONLY)
These workshops will be handled by the office of Education Abroad starting in the Spring 2009 semester, and are for J-1 short-term exchange students who are interested becoming F-1 degree-seeking students at the University of Oklahoma following the completion of their exchange program and successful admission to a degree-seeking program at the University of Oklahoma. Learn basic information, eligibility for regular admission to the university, how to apply, and important immigration information about this process. Staff from the OU office of Admissions, International Student Services, and Education Abroad will present.
