Your Rights as a VolunteerMany agencies are always in need of volunteers and are very grateful for the help. As a volunteer, you have the right: To be treated as a co-worker, not just free help. To know as much about the organization as possible ñ its policies, people and programs. To receive a job description. To train for the job and continue education on the job ñ including training for greater responsibility. To receive sound guidance and direction. To leave, if you ever feel uncomfortable. To decline work that is not acceptable to you; maintain an open mind with regard to other people's standards and values. Your Responsibilities as a VolunteerBe prompt and reliable in reporting for scheduled work. Notify the supervisor as early as possible if you are unable to work as scheduled. Be considerate, respect the ability of the staff, and work as a member of the team. Have the ability to work with a culturally and economically diverse population of clients. Carry out assignments in good spirit and seek the assistance of your supervisor in any situation requiring special guidance. Accept the right of the agency to dismiss any volunteer for poor performance, including poor attendance. Respect current agency policies. |
