Where We Have Been

Since Lunar Sooners formation in 2014, we have had a great opportunity to travel throughout the state to teach people about the exciting world of science! Below is a listing of our most recent events, and the great things we have been able to do.

Sam Noble Family Night: April 15th

Lunar Sooners was invited by the Sam Noble Museum to help host the family night "night under the stars!" Shaun, Evan and Allie had a great time showing kids great demos and seeing Jupiter in the nightime sky.

Galileo's World Lecture Series Star Party

Lunar Sooners was excited to be part of the Galileo lecture series at the Sam Noble Museum, hosing star parties after each lecture!

Star Paty with Cheyenne and Arapaho Department of Education

Lunar Sooner members Rhiannon and Erin traveled to Concho, OK, to participate in a star party for the PSAT Summer Enrichment Camp. This is our second event working with the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes. Students looked at the moon, a few planets and even a galaxy. They also had the chance to ask our members some interesting astronomy questions. All in all, a wonderful night of observing with these middle school students.

Positive Tomorrows: Summer 2015

Lunar Sooner members Sara Barber, Jenna Nugent, Rhiannon Griffin, Evan Rich, and Shaun Steele traveled to Positive Tomorrows, an inner city school helping homeless kids in the Oklahoma City area. We brought several popular demonstrations including spectroscopy investigator, make your own crater, inflatable solar system, and pocket solar system.
