REU Participant Requirements
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, as of Summer 2009
Academic backgrounds in engineering, mathematics, physics, and other science disciplines
Enrolled in four-year colleges and universities, regardless of size
US citizens or US permanent residents
Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply
Compensation Details
REU participants are given a stipend of $3000 over the course of the ten-week research program. In addition to the stipend, housing, some meals, and travel are provided.
Previous REU Activities
Prior industrial tours have included trips to General Motors, Wood Group ESP, Shaklee, NORDAM, Tinker Air Force Base, and Halliburton, among other facilities.
Workshops have been provided in the areas of metrology, team building, performing research, statistics and experimental design, webpage design, robotics, technical writing, presentation skils, Meyers-Briggs personality testing, quality engineering, and graduate study, among others.
