Susan Anderson has worked with the Association of American Indian Physicians for three years, serving as the Health Careers Opportunity Program Coordinator. She works with undergraduate students to prepare them to enter medical school and also administers a summer math and science Academy for AI/AN high school students in the Oklahoma city area. She previously administered the Education and Outreach Dissemination Project with the National Institutes of Health before taking over the HCOP program. Susan is one of the primary grant writers for AAIP.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma and a BA in English from the University of Central Oklahoma. Susan is a member of the Muscogee Creek tribe and is also Choctaw.
Susan served as the Program Specialist with the Western Area Office of Save the Children in Albuquerque, New Mexico, working with over 40 Indian communities across five states in community program development in health and education. She also administered prevention programs through San Juan College in Farmington, NM, and was the Corporate Trainer for the Acoma Pueblo Tribe of Acoma, NM.
Susan served in the City Manager’s Office of the City of Oklahoma City
administering the City Manager’s Comprehensive Customer Relations Program.
She has also been the Project Director and Coordinator in Drug/Alcohol prevention
and treatment programs. She has been a trainer for over fifteen years, and has
presented at national conferences. Susan is a professional singer and has two
beautiful daughters.
