Tom is the lead Principal Investigator of the Oklahoma Geological Survey's STATEMAP program, which is a 50/50 cost sharing program between federal and state governments established to foster geologic mapping in areas deemed to be of vital economic, social, or scientific interest. Besides mapping, Tom's research interests include stratigraphy, sedimentology, and invertebrate paleontology. Tom has authored more than 75 papers and maps on Oklahoma geology.
