All on-campus residents are required to have a meal plan. Most residents elect to have a meal plan that includes Meal Plan Points (see the Housing and Food Services web page more information on Meal Plans). Meal Plan Points can be used only for meals. Meal Plan Points are only accepted at on-campus food establishments. Meal Plan points cannot be used at the Bookstore, copiers, vending machines, laundry rooms, or at off-campus merchants. Sooner Sense and Meal Plan Points are similar but there are some very striking differences!

Sooner Sense can be used at the following debit locations:

• All on-campus Food establishments
• Bookstores
• Copiers
• Vending Machines
• Laundry Rooms

Sooner Sense carries over from one semester to the next.
Sooner Sense can be refunded when you officially leave the University (balances over $10).

For Campus residents it is important to remember that the Meal Plan Points do not roll over beyond the end of the Spring semester. So, when purchasing food, be sure to use your Meal Plan Points first!

10. What if I lose my Sooner Card? top
To prevent the unauthorized use of your card you should notify the Sooner Card Office or the Housing and Food Services Office as soon as possible. This is especially important should you have funds in a Meal Plan Points or Sooner Sense account. Your card can be frozen which will prevent your card from being used. You can also go to Sooner Card Online to suspend the card yourself. Should you then find your card you will have to present it to the Sooner Card Office to have it reinstated.

There are also discounts that off-campus merchants give to students when they show their student ID cards.

12. How can I find out the balance or transaction history of my Sooner Sense Account? top
At most locations the remaining balance is shown whenever you use your Sooner Sense. At most of the food establishments on campus you can ask them to find out for you (there is a balance inquiry capability on most of the machines). You can also go to the Norman Campus Sooner Card Office in the Student Union and get a printout of the balance and transaction history. In addition, Sooner Sense Account balances and the past several days of transactions can also be found at Sooner Card Online.

13. What happens to the money in my Sooner Sense Account at the end of the semester? top
It stays intact for as long as you continue your affiliation with the University. Students who are continuing their studies have the assurance that the funds from the previous semester will continue to be available until they finish their studies. Faculty and Staff Sooner Sense accounts will continue indefinitely as well. Should you finish your studies or employment at the University, the remaining Sooner Sense funds can be refunded to you under certain circumstances:
• There is more than $10.00 in the account. Amounts less than $10.00 will be forfeited.
• Amounts greater than $10.00 will be transferred to the Office of the Bursar to pay toward any other outstanding debts to the University.
• Any remaining funds will then be refunded to cardholder in accordance to the Office of the Bursar's refund policies and procedures.

14. What do I do if my Sooner Card becomes damaged or broken? top
The magnetic stripe on the card may become worn or scratched, which may render it unreadable. In that case, a free reprint of the card can be obtained at the Sooner Card Offices. If, through normal wear and tear of the card, it becomes faded or broken, then the Sooner Card Offices will replace the card free of charge. Do not use the card as an ice scraper on your card windshield, jimmy open door locks or punch holes in them. Obvious abuse of the card will result in having to pay $15.00 for a replacement.

15. Is it OK to punch a hole in the card to make it so that I can put it on my key-ring? top
Do not punch a hole in the card! Keep the card away from devices that may clear the encoding on the magnetic stripe. Putting the card on your key-ring may scratch the magnetic stripe of the card, and that could render it unreadable. There are key-ring/card wallets, available for sale in the bookstores, that will keep the card safe from damage as well as allow you to keep up with your keys.
