Norman Campus Departments

The Department of Architectural and Engineering Services (A&E Services) provides professional and administrative services required to direct the planning, design and construction of new and renovated physical facilities at the University of Oklahoma. Services are performed by in-house professional staff or are provided through the management of architectural and engineering consultants.  The department administers planning, design and construction for the three main campuses in Norman, Oklahoma City (Health Sciences Center), and Tulsa (the Schusterman Center).

OU Facilities Management is responsible for meeting the University's ever-changing needs for facility maintenance, utilities, and custodial services. Max Westheimer Airport, owned and operated by the University of Oklahoma, is an integral component of the transportation infrastructure serving the city of Norman and surrounding region. The airport, along with the surrounding property and complex of existing and planned activities, represents a significant regional economic asset. Each year an estimated 20,000 visitors arrive in Oklahoma by utilizing Max Westheimer Airport.

The Oklahoma Memorial Union is the heart of The University of Oklahoma Campus and hub of student activity. Daily, members of the OU community gather at the union to socialize, study and dine. The Union is also and ideal location for groups inside and outside the university to host conferences, meetings, formal events and more. The mission of the Union is to support the academic growth of students by enriching the university community through programs and services, building an inclusive community, and providing a clean, safe, and welcoming facility for diverse, campus life experiences to occur.

The University of Oklahoma Police Department has been serving the university community since 1968.  The OUPD has 41 CLEET certified officers, two bomb dogs and 6 communication personnel serving a university community of 35,000 staff, faculty and students. In addition to police services, OUPD conducts public presentations and safety classes as part of its community orientated policing philosophy.  OUPD provides security for many visiting dignitaries and for campus events, including football, basketball games and graduation ceremonies.

Parking and Transportation Services strives to make parking and transportation on and around campus easier for students, faculty, staff and visitors. To acheive this goal, mulitple parking lots and garages are located around the Norman Campus, a campus bike share program provides easy on-campus transportation, the Cleveland Area Rapid Transit (CART) system provides bus services to and from campus and Fleet Services provides vehicles for faculty, staff and student travel to organized and sanctioned university functions.

Printing, Mailing and Document Services comprises the the units of Printing, Copy Centers, Central Mail and Document Production.The mission of Printing, Mailing and Document Services is to establish, maintain, and provide high quality printing services to the University community and other State agencies. The Purchasing Department is responsible for the University’s acquisition of goods and services and training on purchasing systems and processes. Purchasing helps ensure compliance with applicable laws, OU Regents Policies and Procedures, and other requirements while promoting best value decisions for all University acquisitions. The Purchasing Department helps plan and develop solicitations, assists in the evaluation process, and awards contracts and issues purchase orders as required.

Real Estate Operations is responsible for the management, leasing, development, acquisition and disposition of property as well as administration and management of contracts such as vending, bookstore services, child care facility operations and manages the University’s record retention. Additionally, Real Estate Operations manages the use of University property by University and non-University sponsored organizations or individuals excluding *students and registered organizations.
