Marilynne Robinson is the author of the novels Gilead and Housekeeping, and the nonfiction works The Death of Adam and Mother Country. Housekeeping was included in The New York Times Books of the Century and listed as one of the 100 greatest novels of all time by the UK Guardian Observer.
In 2005, she received a Pulitzer Prize for Gilead, a novel about the experiences and thoughts of a small-town Iowa minister.

This seminar offers an intensive survey of the novels of Marilynne Robinson, including lectures/sessions with the writer. It focuses specifically on critical and spiritual issues raised in “Housekeeping” and “Gilead.” The student will examine these works and others through literary interpretation and will also write creatively using similar spiritual themes in a workshop setting.
