The Search for Extra-Terrestrial
Intelligence
November 11-15, 1998
at the University of Oklahoma
|
The seminar examined in some detail the factors that play a
role in making the universe habitable. Participants examined
galaxy habitability, how stars and planets form, what make a
habitable star or planet, geological and biological factors
that helped make our planet habitable for complex organisms,
the history of biology on our planet. They also looked at factors
that make technology possible, communication over interstellar
distances, current and possible near-term searches for extraterrestrial
technology, the future science of advanced civilizations in
our galaxy.
