to get a seat on the Exchange. At twenty-one she became a partner
in a Wall Street firm and at twenty-two a millionaire - all while
taking night classes at New York University to earn her undergraduate
degree.
Since then she has written two books, one about her experience on
Wall Street, and one of practical advice about finding a career
for yourself. She also writes a financial advice column for The

Preparing for a Successful
Career - What Will It Take?
October 15-19, 1997
at Southern Nazarene University
|
Laura Pedersen describes a career entrepreneur as a
person who has prepared him/herself for the 21st century - a
person who is capable, imaginative, and flexible, able to changes
jobs easily, or to create his or her own business. This seminar
challenged each student to create a plan for pursuing a successful
life - one that encompasses the technological changes and advances
that accompany the beginning of the 21st century. Students in
this seminar used their interests, skills, creativity, and imagination
to create their own plans for successful careers - guided by
someone who has done it herself. Students learned about growing
fields and cultural trends, identified their strengths and interests,
and developed a plan that combined their skills and education
in order to become leaders in their chosen fields.
