TRANSITION DAY
On the standardization date, OU IT will update the master records for each person with a legacy 4+4 to reflect the standardized 4+4. Our automated processes will then communicate the change to each campus system (email, D2L, enroll, etc.).
Follow these steps to help streamline your experience during the transition process:
- Shut down your computer the night prior to the transition.
- If you do not shut down the night before, you should re-start your computer before attempting to log in to any OU online services.
- Begin using your new 4+4 to log in the morning after your scheduled standardization.
- NOTE: Your password will NOT change.
- If your new 4+4 does not work, try your old 4+4.
- If neither 4+4 works, check the next section on this page, entitled “Tips and Tricks ” to see if we have provided instructions for the system or application in question. We will also post any service loss notices on this page and on the OU IT Outages and Alerts page.
- Re-start and try to log in again using your new 4+4 first and then your old 4+4.

Tips AND TRICKS
This section details items that might cause confusion, concern, or that might require additional action on your part. We will continue to fill this section out as the transition day approaches. You will experience these
- Exchange and Outlook
- If you are logged in to Exchange or Outlook at the time of transition, you will need to log in again.
- Your Global Address List in Outlook may be in cached mode and show old 4+4s. Download the address book to fix (tools > send/receive > download address book)
- Windows Profile
- Your Windows log in will NOT update until you log in on campus or through OU VPN. If you access another network (at home, for instance) with your laptop prior to logging in on campus, you will have to use your old 4+4. Once you log in on the OU network, your 4+4 will update on your laptop.
- Your Windows profile name (found in C:\Documents and Settings) will not change to match your new 4+4.
- This is only the display name for the folder and will not affect your Desktop or My Documents folders or any other items currently associated with your Windows profile.
- Departmental Storage Space (IT-File)
- If you are unable to access your IT-file space, you should re-boot and try to log in again.
- WebCT
- WebCT users are only updated for the Fall semester. Users should continue with old 4+4 until Fall.
- Mobile Devices
- Blackberrys should automatically re-sync.
- If you have an Active Sync-enabled device, you'll need to re-sync your device.
- Open Active Sync
- Click Menu > Options
- Make sure MS Exchange Server is highlighted in the Sync list
- Press Delete
- Set up Active Sync using Exchange's CONNECT WITH A MOBILE DEVICE instructions.
- FSA Atlas
- FSA Atlas does not utilize OU's authentication systems. Continue using old username and password.
- PeopleAdmin - Jobs.ou.edu
- jobs.ou.edu does not utilize OU's authentication systems. Continue using old username and password.
