OUPD is the law enforcement agency of the University of Oklahoma serving the Norman Campus of over 33,000 students, faculty, and staff. It has the responsibility for investigating crimes and for responding to police emergencies. OUPD provides security for all major special events on the OU campus.

OU Police Officers are armed, CLEET certified peace officers. They may be assigned as patrol officers, detectives, or Crime Prevention Officers. Some are assigned to the multi-jurisdiction SWAT team and to the joint Hazardous Devices Unit.Graphic: OUPD officer
 
Starting pay: $28,000 per year.

Community Service Officers (CSO) perform as uniformed, non-commissioned security officers on the Norman Campus academic and housing areas. They perform patrols, respond to fire and emergency calls and assist police operations as directed, as well as other law enforcement and security duties as assigned.

CSO applicants should have the ability to: speak clear and concise English; be able to walk, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods of time; hear well and see well (including color, depth perception, and clarity); must be able to lift items weighing 50 pounds or more ; willingness to wear and maintain uniforms, including head covering. Must be willing to conform to a department appearance standard. Some duty time may involve exterior work in inclement, hot, or cold weather.

CSO applicants should have no felony convictions, crimes of moral turpitude, or inordinate misdemeanor/traffic convictions (good driving record). Hiring is contingent on police background and records checks. Required applicant documents: Resume and a list of references.

Applicants must obtain a background check packet from the OU Police Department HQ (2775 Monitor Ave., Norman, OK 73072-7857), complete and return it before an interview will be scheduled.

Hourly Wage: $9.15

POLICE COMMUNICATIONS OFFICERS
- Full Time

OUPD OfficerPolice Communications Officers (PCO) receive incoming telephone calls, including emergency 911 calls for assistance. PCOs operate computer terminals, communicate with other police staff using two-way radios, and communicate with people outside the department including telephone, radio and computer messages.

PCOs monitor and dispatch alarms, enter information into a computer, complete required reports and forms, and perform other law enforcement and security duties as required.

PCO applicants should have the ability to: speak clear and concise English; hear well and see well (including color, depth perception, and clarity); willingness to wear and maintain uniforms. Must be willing to conform to a department appearance standard.
