Here's my personal favorite (16k), below, but it was just too large to use on every page:

The next logo, below, was one of the toughest animations I did, but it was just too big at 30k, and a bit too distracting for a universal header:



I did use this smaller version (5k) in several locations on the site, so I got some use out of all the work I did on the animation.

The logo I finally settled on (the one at the top of our pages) is fairly small (14k) and the animation (tiny overheads) are not too distracting - a factor since they're on almost every page of the website. While it's resolution is fairly low compared to most graphics on the site, it looks fairly nice on most color-depths.

Finally, here's a logo, below, which I spent a long time on before we decided on the "Police Notebook" concept. It was fairly large (37k) but nice...



Anyway, that's the history of the major logos considered for the site.
