The source of this online map has been used for many years as the official "Parking Map" for the campus, and is maintained and updated by the Drafting Office of the OU Physical Plant.It's roots, however, are at OUPD. In the 1970's OUPD needed a set of maps for the Norman Campus for tactical use that were more detailed than the 8.5x11 parking maps of that time, but less bulky than the next available size: giant rolls of 1-inch equals 50-feet maps!
Richard Hamilton (OUPD Webmaster) created this map as a volunteer project (as well as the University Research Park [Airpark] Map and the South Campus Map.)
As the only map of it's kind on campus in it's day, we had a lot of requests for copies and it was soon adopted as the "official" campus Parking Map.
Thus, while the OU Police Department isn't particularly well-known for it's map making, it once was!
