Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, 3:30 p.m., 128 Dale Hall. Everyone is welcome!
This talk will examine many of the common themes that have developed in the discussion of Native American thought, as well as the unique difficulties in studying it. Respect, circularity/interconnectedness, “ceremonial worlds” and epistemic humility are among the themes that will be discussed. The history, intentional and unintentional, of European and subsequent Euroamerican contact will be examined as a major source of the difficulties in studying Native American philosophy. Questions and discussion are welcome.
