A currently popular naturalizing program in the philosophy of mind consists of (i) the claim that the property of being in a state with a certain phenomenal character is identical to the property of being in a certain sort of propositional attitude state, and (ii) the attempt to give a functionalist analysis of the latter. I present some reasons to be skeptical of this program.
