Following is an alphabetical list of national scholarships with web addresses and basic information

*Fulbright Grants:  Awards approximately 1500 grants to U.S. students to study/research in more than 140 countries. OU campus deadline: September; national deadline, mid-October. http://www.iie.org Contact Karl Rambo, 325-1999, krambo@ou.edu.

Gates Cambridge: Enables study at Cambridge University for one, two, three, or four years. Applicants apply for the Gates and to Cambridge with one application. Deadline: October 15, 2010. http://www.gatesscholar.org/.

**Goldwater: Students apply their sophomore or junior year; for those who intend to pursue a PhD and careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering (not medical school students who plan to work in private practice). **Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship: Students apply their sophomore year; enables undergraduate college students to receive training in oceanic and atmospheric science, research, technology, and education, and includes a summer internship at a NOAA facility. *Luce: The Luce Scholars Program provides stipends and internships for eighteen young Americans to live and work in Asia each year. Those who already have significant experience in Asia or Asian studies are not eligible for the Luce Scholars Program. *George J. Mitchell Scholarships: For students 18-30 years old who will receive a bachelor’s by the time they take up the scholarship. Pickering (Undergraduate): The Thomas R. Pickering Undergraduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship program provides funding to participants as they are prepared academically and professionally to enter the United States Department of State Foreign Service. Students apply their junior year. Those selected must commit to pursuing a master’s degree in international studies at one of the graduate schools participating in the program. Pickering (Graduate): The Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship program is the same as the Undergraduate Fellowship but students apply the year before they enter a two-year Masters program. Rangel: The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs program has two components. One provides support for graduate school, professional development, and entry into the U.S. Foreign Service, and the other is the Undergraduate International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program that provides undergraduates with the opportunity to enhance their skills, knowledge and understanding about U.S. foreign policy. *Rhodes: For students 18-24 years old who will receive a BA by the time they take up the scholarship. Enables study for two years at Oxford University, England. The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans: For up to two years of graduate study in the United States.
