Auditions

All students are required to audition at the beginning of each school year. These auditions take place during the first week of classes in August. Sign-up sheets for specific audition times will be available about one week prior to auditions. After auditions our string sections (except the principals) will rotate seatings for each concert at the Music Director's discretion. Winds, brasses, and percussion will also re-audition during the last week of the fall semester to determine seatings for the upcoming spring.

Students should prepare the excerpts for their instrument (found below) AND two to three minutes from a standard repertoire solo work for their instrument.

Auditions for winds, brass, and percussion are handled through the University of Oklahoma Bands; audition materials and specific times can be found through their website. Below you can find PDF files of the audition excerpts that were used for the current concert season. To download them, simply right-click on the link and select "Save As". The excerpts for next fall's auditions are usually posted in early to mid-July.
