Delivering customized employment training anywhere in the United States

The National Center for Disability Education and Training (NCDET) designs and delivers cutting-edge training to staff of employment providers in a variety of competency-based courses leading to certification. The methods of training range from classroom to accessible multimedia products marketed across the United States.

The National Center for Disability Education and Training (NCDET) improves independent living, employment, and career opportunities for people with disabilities.

Through its model programs -

  • NCDET proves that youth and adults with disabilities can be successfully employed.

  • The center develops and delivers customized training programs for professionals in related disability fields.

  • Through funding from the Social Security Administration, NCDET staff delivers training and services to beneficiaries with disabilities across the state.

  • NCDET has developed many training tools to improve the skills of management and frontline staff providing employment support to individuals with disabilities.

NCDET Trainings for DRS

Our departmental function is to provide specialized trainings for agencies contracting with the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services. Our services are also available to non-contracting agencies as well as individuals in the community seeking information and assistance in the field of supported employment.

Work Incentives Planning and Assistance Project

The Oklahoma Work Incentives Planning and Assistance Project (OWIPA) resumed services to Social Security beneficiaries on October 1, 2013. OWIPA is a project operated by the National Center for Disability Education and Training, a department within the Division of Public and Community Services of University Outreach, University of Oklahoma.

OWIPA continues to provide direct work incentives planning and assistance services to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and/or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) beneficiaries across the state of Oklahoma to assist them in their employment efforts. OWIPA will support beneficiaries in retaining/sustaining meaningful employment at significant earnings levels, and by doing so, seek to improve their economic security.

Add Us In

The Central Oklahoma Add Us In Initiative will design and implement a seamless, integrated, and replicable system model that creates a regional infrastructure based in a four-county workforce area that will support businesses in their efforts to employ youth and adults with all types of disabilities.

Project Search

Project SEARCH is a collaborative model that has proven to be successful at meeting employer’s needs while offering employment and education opportunities for High School Seniors or Post-secondary Technology Center students with disabilities. Since its inception in 1996, at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, the program has been replicated in 250 different businesses in 42 states and the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.
